The Freemason license plates recognize the Free & Accepted Masons of Wisconsin, a fraternal order that was organized in 1843 and in operation several years before our state was admitted to the Union. For more information about the Freemasons, contact: Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of WI 36275 Sunset Dr. Dousman, WI 53118 Telephone: 262-965-2200 Internet: wisc-freemasonry.org Section 132.17, Wisconsin Statutes, makes it illegal to use the insignia of the Freemasons or of any other society, order or organization operating under the lodge system unless entitled to use the same under the constitution, bylaws, rules and regulations of that society, order or organization.



Freemason license plates are available to the general public and may be used to register the following vehicles: · Automobiles · Motor homes (annual registration only) · Motor Trucks · 4,500, 6,000 or 8,000 pound gross weight including dual purpose farm and dual purpose motor home · 12,000 pound gross weight farm truck

How To Apply 1. Complete and mail the Freemason Decal Application with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the address provided. 2. Complete the Freemason License Plate Application and mail separately to the WisDOT address provided. If you want non-personalized plates, select that check-box on page 1 and omit steps 3-6. If you want personalized plates choose 1-6 characters. 3. If you choose 6 characters, no spaces are allowed.

If you choose 5 characters or less, you may request up to 2 spaces between any of the characters. Indicate spaces with diagonal lines.

4. Use capital letters or numbers. The letter O and the number zero are the same. The following are not acceptable: small letters, symbols, signs, hyphens, apostrophes, etc. Carefully distinguish between: M Letters L or I and the Number 1 M Letter S and Number 5 M Letter G and Number 6 M Letter Z and Number 2 M Letter B and Number 8 M Letter U and Letter V 5. Give meaning of request, i.e., what does this represent? 6. If you have personalized plates that you would like to replace with the same message on Freemason plates, you may do so if your message is 6 characters or less. (Other restrictions may apply; call if you have questions.) 7. Send the following items: M Your Wisconsin Title (not a photocopy); M Signed application; M $15 Issuance fee or $15 personalized fee; M Annual registration fee if you do not have plates or if your plates expire within the next 3 months; M Check or money order made payable to: Registration Fee Trust. 8. Standard Freemason Plates M The first time you get your Freemason plate you pay: M A $15 one-time original issuance fee; Your regular registration fee, if your current plates expire within three months. M M Thereafter, you will pay only the regular registration fee. M You must submit your current title to receive either standard or personalized Freemason plates. You will receive a new title. Personalized Freemason Plates MIf you would like personalized plates, a $15.00 fee is required EACH year in addition to the regular registration fee. M Personalized plates cannot be duplicated on any other license plate issued by WisDOT. To check whether your personalized plate choice is available before you apply, you may contact the Special Plates Unit (E-mail: [email protected]). M If your personalized request is not available, check which option on the form you would like us to follow. M The department may refuse to issue OR may recall after issuance, a request that is misleading or may be offensive to good taste or decency. M No refund or adjustment will be made for a change of choice or spacing after the plate has been ordered, or if the application is unclear or incorrectly completed. M Allow approximately 4-6 weeks after you receive your new title for personalized plates to arrive. Plates Required in 2 days To legally operate your vehicle, you must display license plates within two business days of purchase. If you do not have current plates, apply to a DMV Customer Service Center or an agent authorized by DMV to obtain a temporary plate while your Freemason order is processed. An agent may also charge a $3 plate fee and/or may charge a $5 service fee. Change to Regular Plates If you later decide to re-register with standard license plates, return your title with a request for standard plates. Include the regular registration fee if your Freemason plates will expire within the next three months.
