Policy Restrictions on Law Practice After Termination of a Clerkship With the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland

A lawyer must not represent anyone in connection with a matter in which the lawyer participated personally upon the merits, in other than an incidental manner, as a law clerk for a judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland.

Adopted by the Judges of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland on February 14, 2002.

Policy Restrictions for Law Clerks in Seeking Employment

1.

A law clerk must avoid all contact with cases involving lawyers

or law firms with whom the law clerk has accepted an offer of employment, from whom the law clerk has an outstanding offer of employment, or as to whom the law clerk concludes his or her judgment could be compromised by the desire for employment. 2. A law clerk must not discuss a matter or proceeding that is

pending before the court during an interview for employment. 3. A law clerk, or former law clerk, must never discuss the process

by which the decision in a particular matter was made during the law clerk's tenure, except for what is part of the public record.
