Defender Services Division Training Branch The Defender Services Training Branch in Washington, D.C. provides support to panel attorneys in CJA cases. The Training Branch has special expertise in federal criminal law and procedure, including guideline sentencing. The hotline telephone number is 800-788-9908. Guidelines for the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act The Guidelines are published in Volume VII of the Guide to Judiciary Policies and Procedures. The Guidelines are available for review in the Office of the CJA Supervising Attorney, or in the Federal Public Defender's office. Panel Attorneys Get Free Public Access Attorneys appointed under the Criminal Justice Act and related statutes are now exempt from payment of electronic public access fees for work that is performed pursuant to such appointments in all federal courts.
