FACTOR 2. EXPERIENCE. The career specialties are Automation, Communications, Navaids, and Radar. It is possible to have three different career specialties identified in the position announcement; e.g., VOR (Navaids), RCAG (Communications), and RMLR (Radar). Credit for experience may be awarded in one of two categories - ELECTRONICS CERTIFICATION which is a measure of experience for AFS PERSONNEL or SUBSTITUTE FOR CERTIFICATION which covers INSTALLATION TECHNICIANS, ENGINEERS, ACADEMY INSTRUCTORS, ETC. a. Base Points (1) Electronics Certification Base points shall be awarded for prior or current certification of . any system in thesame career field as those systems identified in the announcement; i.e., Radar, Communication, Visual Navaids, Automation, and Navaids. (2) Substitute for Certification In cases where candidates are in positions not requiring . certification credentials; e.g., installation technicians, engineers, and Academy instructors, credit shall be awarded for candidates with at least 1 year of FAA experience within the past 5 years in direct installation, engineering, or instructor on any system in the identified career specialties. EXAMPLE An announcement identifies the following facilities/systems: Radar - ARSR, Radar - ATCRB, Automation - CD, Communications - RCAG.
