Information for the Application for Reduced Fee Hunting and Fishing License for Disabled Veterans
1. Who is eligible for the DAV license?
Indiana residents who have served in the Armed Forces and have a documented service connected disability.

2. Can I purchase my DAV license when I send in my application letter?
Yes, you may purchase the DAV license in the mail through the DNR customer service center when you send in your application form for your award letter. You will need to send in a check or money order payable to IDNR.

3. How much does the license cost and what does it cover?
The license sells for $2.75 and covers the hunting of small game as well as fishing, excluding any stamps.

4. Are stamps included on the license?
No, Game Bird Habitat, Waterfowl and Trout/Salmon stamps are not included in the discount.

5. Can I buy stamps for my DAV license?
Yes, you may purchase stamps at the regular price to affix to your DAV license.

6. Does my DAV license cover deer or turkey hunting?
No, your DAV license is good for small game hunting or fishing only.

7. How does the process work to get a DAV license?
a. Fill out your application form. -applications are available from your County Veteran Service Officer or at www.wildlife.in.gov b. Be sure to include your USDVA file number c. Send your application and payment to the Customer Service Center, 402 W. Washington St., Rm. W160, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope. d. Within two weeks, your signed and sealed certified application will be returned to you. You will need to retain this certified application for your future use.

8. How do I purchase my license in future years?
Once you receive your certified application, you may use it or your previous license to purchase future licenses and eliminate any delay. Just show your license or certified application to the vendor for proof of your eligibility.

This form, when signed by the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, is evidence of your status as a disabled veteran. Take the signed and sealed form to a Department of Natural Resources outlet that carries these reduced rate licenses. IC 14-22-12-1.5 Sec. 1.5. (a) As used in this section, "qualified individual" means an individual who: (1) is a resident of Indiana; (2) has served in the armed forces of the United States; and (3) has a service connected disability, as evidenced by: (A) records of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs; or (B) disability retirement benefits awarded to the individual under laws administered by the United States Department of Defense. (b) A qualified individual is entitled to reduced fee hunting and fishing licenses under this section. (c) Each year a qualified individual may obtain: (1) both: (A) a resident yearly license to fish; and (B) a resident yearly license to hunt; or (2) a resident yearly license to hunt and fish; by paying a reduced license fee of two dollars and seventy-five cents ($2.75) instead of the fee prescribed by section 1 of this chapter. (d) An applicant for a reduced fee license under this section must do the following: (1) Request the license from: (A) the department (of Natural Resources); (B) an agent appointed by the director under IC 14-22-11-3; or (C) the clerk of the circuit court who is an authorized representative of the department under IC 14-22-11-3 in the county in which the individual resides. (2) Present evidence that the applicant is a qualified individual. As added by P.L.188-2001, SEC.4.

Note: If you are rated by the U.S. Department of Defense you must provide documentation of that rating with this application.
