COMMONLY USED TERMS 1. 201 - Form that contains vital information for the payment and collection of Child Support. This form must be completed correctly and completely. 2. Adjudication - A decision, judgement judicial sentence or decision. 3. Affiant - A person who swears to the truth of a statement. This term frequently appears on affidavits used for filing divorce papers. 4. Affidavit - A sworn statement, in writing, which is under oath or affirmation before a Notary Public. 5. Agreed Entry - Both parties to a case are able to agree to all issues and do not need a decision or adjudication by the Judge or Magistrate. 6. Arrearage - Child support or Spousal support (alimony) that has not been paid. This is the amount of money that is owed to a party for support. 7. C.S.E.A. - Child Support Enforcement Agency 8. Case Number - The number assigned, by Clerk of Courts, to the initial filing of a divorce, dissolution, legal separation or annulment. 9. Compliance Office - The part of the Domestic Relations Court which is responsible for reviewing any papers filed in a Domestic Relations Case. The review is to make sure the papers are in compliance with State law and local rules of the Domestic Relations Court. 10. Court Rules - The complete list of all procedures, methods or rules which must be followed by everyone who files cases in Domestic Relations Court. 11. D.O.B. - The date of birth of a person. 12. Defendant - The person against whom a complaint for divorce is filed. If a wife files against her husband, then the husband is the defendant. If a husband files against his wife, then the wife is the defendant. 13. DR616 - A form that is required by State law which contains vital information about the children of the parents in a divorce or dissolution case. 14. Filings - All action, in writing, in any divorce or dissolution case. 15. IV-D - A form that is required, by Federal law, for the collection of child support by the CSEA.

16. Motion - A motion is a filing which asks the Court to take action for or against a party to a divorce case. 17. Notary Public - A public officer who certifies or verifies the signature of people. Thus if a wife signs a document before a notary public to verify that this is the wife and not a stranger posing as the wife. 18. Obligee - A person who receives payments of child support or spousal support (alimony). 19. Obligor - A person who is ordered to pay child support or spousal support (alimony). 20. Party - A person who is part of a divorce or dissolution case. A husband is a party and a wife is a party. 21. Perpetrator - A person who has allegedly committed a crime. 22. Petitioner - A person who makes a request, in writing, to the court. This term refers to either person (party) in a dissolution. It is also the name used for the person who files a domestic violence complaint against someone. 23. Plaintiff - A person who files a complaint for a divorce. 24. Poundage - This is a charge of 2% of each payment made to the CSEA for child or spousal support. This administrative fee is set by state law.
