Hello, The new procedure for processing a request for Adoptions is as follows: When the Certified Report of Adoption is received in our office it takes approximately 4 weeks from the date received for the new birth certificate to be prepared. Upon completion of the new birth certificate, a notification along with an application for a certified copy of a birth certificate will be sent to the attorney listed on the Report of Adoption. If no attorney is listed correspondence will be sent to the adoptive parents. The notification will explain fees and requirements, etc. Once the application is returned the birth certificate will then be issued from our office by Fee & Issuance (Certification Unit).
