Dear Residents: The State of California has implemented a law commonly referred to as ''Megan's Law'' designed to allow you access to information regarding registered sex offenders. Effective July 1, 1999 as part of your lease agreement we must disclose to you the availability of the data base information regarding registered sex offenders. Attached please find a blank Addendum to Lease for the disclosure of this data base information. This letter will serve as notification of this information until you have completed and signed the addendum to the lease. Please contact me to sign your lease addendum at your earliest convenience. would like to have these completed with the payment of your rent in July if possible. Data Base Disclosure Regarding Registered Sex Offenders The following terms and conditions are hereby incorporated in and made a part of the Residential Lease or Month-to-Month Rental Agreement, dated by and between ("Tenant(s)"), for the property described as NOTICE: The California Department of Justice, sheriff's departments, police departments serving jurisdictions of 200,000 or more and many other local law enforcement authorities maintain for public access a database of the locations of persons required to register pursuant to paragraph (1) of subdivision (a) of Section 290.4 of the Penal code. The database Is updated on a quarterly basis and a source of Information about the presence of these Individuals In any neighborhood. The Department of Justice also maintains a Sex Offender Identification Line through which Inquiries about Individuals . may be made. This is a "900" telephone service, Callers must have specific Information about the individuals they are checking.
