ORDER
The Georgetown office of the McNair Law Firm, P.A. ("the Firm") was destroyed by fire on September 6, 2008. For the reasons set forth below, the attorneys in the Georgetown office are granted a blanket extension on all matters pending in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina until November 3, 2008. The fire began when a utility pole fell, causing an electrical fire. The Firm has obtained temporary office space and expects to move into that space within another week. Vendors for telecommunication and data transmission lines expect to have the temporary office operational by the end of September or beginning of October. The principal difficulty faced by the Firm is its files. Most files survived the fire but heavy water and smoke (soot) damage requires that the files be cleaned and copied by hand, page by page. The files cannot be copied quickly with a feeder due to the water and smoke damage. The vendor obtained by the Firm for this task estimates that copying will be complete in 40-60 days. The attorneys for the Firm have culled through the files in an effort to prioritize them for copying, focusing on litigation files that are most likely to have impending deadlines.
