Applicant Arctic Slope Regional Corporation ("ASRC") answers plaintiffs' First Amended Complaint as follows: I. 1. INTRODUCTION This paragraph states plaintiffs' characterization of their lawsuit and,

therefore, does not require a response. 2. ASRC is without knowledge or information sufficient to form a belief as to the

required. ASRC denies the remaining allegations stated in ¶ 11 of plaintiffs' First Amended Complaint. 12. Paragraph 12 characterizes the relief plaintiffs seek in this litigation and,

therefore, no response is required. Nevertheless, ASRC denies that plaintiffs are entitled to any of the relief they seek. In addition, footnote 1 to ¶ 12 characterizes additional claims and allegations that are not asserted in the First Amended Complaint, but which plaintiffs allege they intend to assert in the future. No response to footnote 1 is required; nevertheless, ASRC denies that such additional claims are now ripe, or will have merit if and when plaintiffs may assert them in a valid pleading. II. 13. Service is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Interior with responsibility for administering certain provisions of the Endangered Species Act in certain situations as defined by law. Other than as expressly admitted, ASRC is without knowledge or information sufficient to form a belief as the truth of the allegations contained in ¶ 26 and, therefore, denies the same. IV. 27.
