Information Regarding Appeals Scheduled for Oral Board Hearings Business Tax and Fee Appeals
The State Board of Equalization (BOE) obtains information from you when you file a business tax or fee appeal and we may request additional information from you to further develop factual and legal issues. (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 18, sections 5217, 5234.5, 5241, 5249.4.) The failure to provide requested information may result in the denial of your appeal.

Can I review my records?
Yes. Please contact the Board Proceedings Division in our Headquarters office in Sacramento. If you need more information, you may contact our Disclosure Officer in Sacramento by calling 916-445-2918. You may also want to obtain publication 58-A, How to Inspect and Correct Your Records. You may download it from the Internet at www.boe.ca.gov (look under "Forms & Publications") or order a copy from our Taxpayer Information Section at 800-400-7115.

Can anyone else see my information?
Your records are covered by state laws that protect your privacy. However, we may share information regarding your account with certain government agencies and with companies authorized to represent local governments. Moreover, when you request an oral hearing and do not waive your hearing request before the Public Agenda Notice is issued for the first BOE meeting at which your oral hearing is scheduled, we may disclose certain information regarding your appeal to third parties without your permission. Specifically, we may disclose the Hearing Summary prepared for your oral hearing and information that is publicly discussed during your oral hearing. However, we will not disclose any personal information that can be used for identity theft, such as home addresses, home telephone numbers, social security numbers, federal identification numbers, and bank account numbers. (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 18 sec. 5573.)
